Empire Four Poster Bed, B-5
The massive posts 4 1/2" posts define this Empire style bird's eye maple bed. The high headboard makes it most suitable for a modern mattress. Square panels with a tapered dovetail conceal the bed bolts. At one time the top of the post was cut off but the orginal pieces were saved and attached with metal pins like finials. Original finish. This is a dramatic bed. Bird's eye maple posts and headboard, poplar rails.
