Hepplewhite Four Poster Bed
B-11

This is a fine example of the Hepplewhite style with superb reeding and inlay. The foot posts are of mahogany, thehead posts and rails of birch and the headboard of pine. All parts appear to be original as does the finish. The foot posts have fine reeding on the urn and bold reeding on the upper vase ending in a swag detail. The inlay features crossbanding defined by stringing with arched stringing completing the design. There has been some repair to the crossbanding. One bed bolt cover is missing. The head posts are square tapers.
This bed is a fine example of early 19th century craftmanship and style.
