antique low post bed in red paint

bed post of antique low post bed

detail of antique low post bedThis simple low post bed is a fine example of early American thrift and practicality. The bed has no hardware and was held together by the rope spring. Note the bow in the side rail attesting to many years of tension from the ropes. The simple turnings and original red paint add to the character of this bed. The bed is constructed of maple, oak and pine.
